🚗 Tip of Borneo
The Tip of Borneo, also known as Simpang Mengayau (translates to lingering junction), is the northernmost point of Borneo where the South China Sea meets the Sulu Seas. This captivating location is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets, moonlight nights, and the dramatic collision of waves against rugged cliffs. It’s a must-visit spot for those seeking stunning views and Instagram-worthy moments at the edge of Sabah.
🚗 Soaking Up the Sun at Kudat’s Stunning Beaches
Kudat boasts some of the most pristine and secluded beaches in Sabah. Take a leisurely stroll along the white sandy shores, dip your toes in crystal-clear waters, and let the ocean breeze rejuvenate your travelling soul. Make sure to include Kudat’s beaches in your travel plans. In addition to the well-known Kalampunian Beach, be sure to add Kelambu Beach and Bak Bak Beach to your list of must-visit spots for a complete Kudat experience.
Kelambu Beach in Sabah is a tombolo, where a sand bar connects Kelambu Island to the mainland. The name “Kelambu” translates to “mosquito net” in local language, and was most likely inspired by the beach’s resemblance to the shape of a mosquito net. This natural formation is a rare sight in Sabah, making it one of the must-see beaches in Kudat.
Bak Bak Beach is the closest beach to Kudat town, located 5 kilometres from a main road exit. When you’re on your way to the Tip of Borneo, look for the “Jalan Bak Bak” sign on your right. Pantai Bak Bak, while technically not a beach due to its submerged shore, offers calm and shallow waters ideal for wading as well as scenic coral rock formations. It’s a great spot for family and friends to take photos because there are many attractive installations.
