KOTA KINABALU, 16 August 2024 – The Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology (MSGH) is thrilled to hold its Annual Scientific Meeting – GUT 2024 – from 16 to 18 August 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
GUT 2024 features an extensive academic programme for three days covering crucial areas of clinical practice, research in gastroenterology and hepatology, and gut health. The conference is targeted at gastroenterologists, general and family physicians, surgeons, researchers, scientists and allied health professionals.
Datuk Dr. Raman Muthukaruppan, Organising Chairperson of GUT 2024 and President of
MSGH, explains, “The theme for this year, ‘Innovations in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, ‘highlights our commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. This year’s scientific meeting also features a notable enhancement for the first time – a fullprogramme dedicated specifically to Gastrointestinal Assistants (GIAs). We are excited to extend Sabah’s renowned warm hospitality to all participants and biomedical industry professionals”.
Sabah State Health Director, Y Bhg. Datuk Dr. Asits bin Sanna, adds, “A key feature of this event is its focus on hands-on training and practical sessions which will provide healthcare professionals with first-hand experience of the latest techniques and technologies”.
Organised by MSGH in collaboration with Queen Elizabeth Hospital I, Kota Kinabalu, and
incorporating the GIA Symposium of the MSGH Nursing Chapter, this event promises to offer valuable insights and networking opportunities for all attendees.
The Honourable Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister II cum Local Government and Housing Minister, conveys the Chief Minister of Sabah’s message, emphasising, “Endoscopic nurses and Gastrointestinal Assistants (GIAs) are the backbone of our operational support; without them, managing an effective endoscopic suite would be unfeasible. Dedicating a full programme to their training and development reflects a genuine commitment to nurturing talent within the medical field’.
Prior to the three-day programme, on 15 August 2024, the 8th Edition of the EndoQE Hands-On Workshop was held at the Department of Medicine, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
