The Core Committee of Installation Art by the Bay KK 2025 (IAKK2025) is pleased to announce the return of its annual Public Community Interactive Eco-Art Tourism event, now in its 12th year. The event will be held at Taman Chong Thien Vun, Kota Kinabalu City Centre, from 13–16 September 2025, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily.
This year’s theme, Echoes of Sustainability – Every Effort Matters, will see the park transformed into a creative showcase of 15 upcycled sculptures. Crafted from reusable and recyclable materials such as scrap metal, polycarbonate sheets, plastic bottles, containers, CDs, bags, and even natural garden waste, these striking 3D artworks highlight the urgent need to reduce waste and embrace sustainable practices.
Awareness through art is a powerful tool. Through these installations, video clips and photographs will be shared on our social media platforms to raise awareness, foster reflection, and inspire positive change.
Each artwork delivers a unique message on environmental concerns and ongoing sustainability efforts. Collectively, they serve as striking visual reminders, urging us to make conscious, sustainable choices in our daily lives.
The world today faces not only a climate crisis but also growing challenges of waste and public health. In response, IAKK2025 seeks to harness creativity as a powerful catalyst for action. At its core, the annual event is committed to advancing environmental and sustainability awareness. It is designed to create meaningful community art experiences that encourage more sustainable choices, promote Eco-Art Tourism as a signature attraction in Sabah, and strengthen both local and global connections through an active online art community on Facebook and WhatsApp—ensuring the dialogue on art and environmental stewardship continues well beyond the event.
Installation Art by the Bay KK 2025 (IAKK2025) is proudly supported by the Kementerian Pelancongan, Kebudayaan dan Alam Sekitar Sabah (KePKAS) and Tourism Malaysia Sabah. The initiative is held in collaboration with the Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK), Lembaga Kebudayaan Negeri Sabah (LKNS), Balai Seni Lukis Sabah (BSLS), and the Sabah Tourist Association (STA). The event brings together a wide network of participants, including social groups, schools, colleges, artists, NGOs, tour agencies, as well as international artists from United Kingdom and Singapore. We will also have a team from Denmark (via online participation).

The public is warmly invited to visit Taman Chong Thien Vun and experience the innovative upcycled artworks created by our community members. Over 3,000 visitors are expected during the four-day event, with extended reach through online viewings at facebook.com/installationartkk.
