Sabah Youth Network for Creatives officially launches at Sabah Creative Economy Summit 2025
There’s a fresh energy in the air, and it goes by the name SYNC — the Sabah Youth Network for Creatives. Unveiled at the Sabah Creative Economy Summit 2025, SYNC isn’t just an initiative — it’s a movement. A movement built on one powerful idea: By Creatives, For Creatives.
At its core, SYNC is about creating a vibrant, inclusive space where creative minds from all walks—art, design, music, film, fashion, and tech—can come together. It’s about collaboration, innovation, and real conversations that lead to real growth.
“SYNC is about more than just the arts,” shared Kenneth Lo during the launch. “It’s about identity. It’s about sustainability. It’s about driving economic growth and making sure creatives have a platform where their voices matter. Real change happens when we work together—and that’s what SYNC is all about.”
Building a Stronger Creative Economy in Sabah
A thriving creative sector has the power to ripple across industries—touching education, tourism, heritage, and even how we govern. SYNC aims to tap into the creative energy of local youth, helping them turn ideas into cultural impact and economic opportunity.
But it’s also about filling the gaps. Many young creatives in Sabah haven’t had access to the resources, support, or networks they need. SYNC is here to change that—pushing for better policies, stronger connections, and meaningful opportunities to grow.
Introducing Creative Hosts: Monthly Meetups That Matter
One of SYNC’s first major programs is Creative Hosts—a monthly meetup series designed to spark honest conversations and encourage collaboration. Hosted with the support of the Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC), these gatherings will dive into important topics like creative rights, income opportunities, and building stronger communities within the sector.
The first session, Creative Industries: Rights, Economy & Connection, kicks off on May 21, 2025, at SCENIC. Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., it’ll bring together creatives, thought leaders, and industry experts to tackle the issues that matter most.
