Starting 21August 2025, Le Petit Chef: In the Footsteps of Marco Polo takes guests through the legendary explorer’s path, with a six-course culinary journey inspired by the travels of Marco Polo — reimagined through the eyes of the world’s tiniest chef.

From the coastlines of the Mediterranean to the vibrant spices of India and China, Le Petit Chef: In the
Footsteps of Marco Polo invites guests to follow our tiny protagonist on an epic voyage across cultures and
cuisines. Through immersive 3D projection mapping, animation, and storytelling, each course follows the tiny
chef’s journey through France, Arabia, India, the Himalayas, China, and back to Europe. Along the way, the
aromas, spices, and flavours of each region come alive on the plate — making every bite a new discovery.

The culinary team at Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu has thoughtfully reimagined this new chapter with a fresh menu that captures the spirit and flavours of each destination visited by the famed explorer. Le Petit Chef is an innovative dining experience that combines storytelling with fine dining using 3D
projection mapping and animation. Originating from Belgium, it has gained international acclaim for its
unique approach to culinary entertainment.
Behind the elaborate animations lies the Belgian artist collective “Skullmapping”, founded in 2010 by
Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck. Using 3D mapping technology and profound artistic know-how, the
