Spanning over 139,919 ha of densely forested terrain, mainly lowland, hill and montane forests, Crocker Range Park is the largest terrestrial park of Sabah and a habitat for about 500 plant species (1/3 of Borneo’s species), 107 mammal, 67 amphibian, 52 reptile and 26 species of freshwater fishes. Besides, the Park is also an important water catchment area as the sources of several major rivers that supply clean drinking water to half of Sabah population.
Did you know?
In June 2014, Crocker Range Park was recognised as a Biosphere Reserve by the International Coordinating Council for Biosphere Reserve (CRBR), a programme under UNESCO.
The Park is approximately 75 kilometers in length and 15 kilometers wide, run along northeast-southwest axis. At the Park, even ordinary visitors would soon feel that they are so close with mother nature, when they smell the fresh air from misty forest in the morning, hear many types of bird chirping in the evening, and see swarm of colourful moth congregates under the lamp at night.
Crocker Range Park spreads across eight districts and has ten substations. Most nature lovers visit Crocker Range Park HQ which is 14 KM away from Keningau town and next to Kimanis-Keningau road, to enjoy better amenities and the following activities such as Jungle Trekking, Bird Watching, Night Walk, and Rafflesia Plot.
