Tinggi Tinggi Creative Hub Unveils at Jesselton Quay Central

Sabah’s Newest Art Space Invites Public to “Explore. Express. Elevate.”

Kota Kinabalu – Kota Kinabalu’s waterfront district gained a vibrant new cultural pulse this week with the official opening of Tinggi Tinggi Creative Hub at Jesselton Quay Central. This innovative space—a collaboration between Jesselton Quay Properties Sdn Bhd and sculptor-curator Japson Wong—redefines Sabah’s art scene by merging exhibitions, workshops, and local artisan commerce under one roof.

A Celebration of Art and Community

The soft launch of Tinggi Tinggi Creative Hub and its debut exhibition, Polygon Forest, was officiated by Datuk Sia Teong Heng, Managing Director and CEO of SBC Corporation Bhd, alongside 15 featured artists. The intimate yet vibrant gathering marked the birth of Kota Kinabalu’s newest creative hub.

“Tinggi Tinggi is more than just a space—it’s a platform where local artists can experiment, collaborate, and inspire,” said Datuk Sia. “We envision it becoming a cultural landmark for Sabah and beyond.”

“Polygon Forest” – Where Geometry Meets Art

Tinggi Tinggi’s debut exhibition, Polygon Forest: A Jungle of Shapes, A Forest of Wonder, transforms the gallery into an immersive wonderland where 3D sculptures intersect with breathtaking artistic visions, showcasing extraordinary creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship. Curated by Japson Wong, the exhibition features over 20 visionary artists who push boundaries by blending surreal forms with thought-provoking designs. Each piece tells a unique story, inviting visitors to experience art in a bold new dimension.

Japson Wong – From Marine Biologist to Sculptor-Curator

A marine biologist by training, Wong began his upcycling journey a decade ago, gaining recognition for sculptures crafted from excess and rejected polycarbonate. He led “Wonders of the Wilderness – The Ocean (WOW1.0)” at Pillars of Sabah in 2022 and co-founded the Tanjung Aru Marine Ecosystem (TAME) Centre, which promotes marine conservation and upcycling awareness. His contributions earned him the Star Golden Hearts Award 2023.
