KOTA KINABALU: The Tourism Analytics Dashboard Portal Platform is a significant initiative developed by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) in close collaboration with the State Tourism Board (STB) and the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
Its Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew officially launched the Portal Platform in conjunction with the inaugural Tourism Insight Day 2025 at the premises of STB, recently.
She said the Ministry developed the Tourism Analytics Dashboard Portal Platform to add value to the tourism insights under the Sabah Regional Tourism Satellite Account (RTSA).
“This new portal is designed to transform the way we gather and analyse critical data on tourism in Sabah. It will provide a centralised, interactive dashboard that aggregates data from tourists.
“Through this platform, we will be able to collect valuable insights into several key aspects of tourism in Sabah, including the demographics of our visitors, their expenditure patterns, travel preferences, and more through an online survey portal which supports seamless and systematic data collection.
“By collecting this data in an efficient and online-driven manner, we can assess the economic impact of tourism in Sabah, identify visitor trends, and better understand the needs and preferences of our visitors,” Liew said.
She stressed that this data will be pivotal in shaping Sabah Tourism’s policy decisions, enhancing its tourism strategies, and driving targeted marketing efforts, adding “It will also allow us to make more informed, data-driven decisions that will strengthen the tourism sector in Sabah, ensuring it remains competitive and sustainable.”
The Minister thanked all stakeholders – government agencies, industry players, local communities and international partners – for their unwavering support.
“Your efforts to position Sabah at the forefront of the tourism industry have been instrumental in driving Sabah’s tourism recovery and growth,” she said.
Among those who attended the launchng were Chief Statistician Malaysia Dato’ Sri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Josie Lai, Deputy Permanent Secretary I Mary Malangking, Director of Motac, Sabah Ibrahim Othman, Director of Sabah Parks Dr Maklarin Lakim and DBKK Deputy Director-General (Operations) Robert Lipon.
Also present were STB Deputy CEO Tay Shu Lan, CEO of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Thonny Chee, CEO of Sabapak Eco Remysta Taylor, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Sabah/Labuan Chapter Chairman Hafizan Wong and Malaysia Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA), Sabah Chapter Chairman Vincent Sia.
