#ICYDK since 2017, federal civil servants born in Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan who are serving in Peninsular Malaysia have been granted one day of unrecorded leave to celebrate the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced in 2017, that this initiative was approved. The PMO expressed hope that this leave provision would allow East Malaysian civil servants to mark the festive occasions with their families and communities, fostering unity and appreciation for cultural diversity.
Kaamatan is celebrated on May 30 and 31, while Gawai is observed on June 1 and 2.
