Discover the Fun and Affordability at Walai Rabbit’s
The Walai Rabbit’s and Tunggung Recreation Centre is a well-loved visitation site by the local families who would pop in every now and then to spend quality time with each other. With an open and fenced area, it’s a safe and engaging playground for children to explore and learn about human-animal interaction. There are also many relaxing spots for parents to sit closeby to keep an eye on their children.
It is also a family favourite due to how affordable the entrance fee is – RM3 for adults and children over 5 years-old, RM2 for children below 4, and infants are free of charge.
The place boasts a perfect blend of greenery and facilities, allowing visitors to sit around and chat while enjoying the scenic view. Two hours away from Kota Kinabalu, it is the perfect place to fully enjoy the beauty of the countryside as well as to self-heal with multiple inspirational quotes that are scattered throughout the place.
Get Up Close and Personal with Fluffy Friends and Adventure at Walai Rabbit’s: More Than Just a ‘Rabbit House’
‘Walai’ means ‘house’ in the native Dusun Language. Hence ‘Walai Rabbit’s’ means ‘rabbit house’ but it acts more like a mini zoo, housing many types of animals from deer to quails. But true to its name, the place is famous for its fluffy creatures with over 50 of them in the centre! The rabbits may be gentle and friendly, but beware of their adorable lopping ears and innocent eyes! They will bombard you once you give them attention (and lots of food)!
Other than rabbits, you can also find yourself in the delightful company of other animals that roam in the premises. Most commonly seen are the deer and turkeys that walk alongside you when you explore the place! You can even feed the animals during feeding time! Maybe you can even spot some of the hidden creatures like the frogs and the turtles?
For the adventurous visitors, there are thrilling activities such as boating and ATV driving! Boating costs RM6 for 25 minutes and ATV driving is RM32 for 30 minutes from 9.00am to 5.30pm. There are many opportunities to take amazing photos as the place is incredibly photogenic!
What to bring for your cutest weekend getaway?
Be sure to pack an extra set of clothes and slippers in case they get wet after the boating activity! If you intend to have a picnic within the grounds, a picnic basket is a must! Most importantly, do not forget to bring your camera to capture the beautiful memories!
