KOTA KINABALU (Mar 25): The official birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, will commence on March 30, 2025, and continue until June 21, 2025.
According to a press statement from the main organizing committee, a total of seven official events will take place across the state during this period.
The celebration will begin with a religious ceremony consisting of tahlil prayers, doa selamat and solat hajat, organized by the Sabah State Islamic Religious Affairs Department to seek blessings for the occasion.
A grand parade will also be held, coordinated by Kota Kinabalu City Hall, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding participants in the parade.
One of the key highlights of the celebration is the State banquet, a formal gathering attended by dignitaries and honored guests, managed by the State Protocol and Ceremonial Division.
Additionally, Sabah Ethnic Day will showcase the state’s rich cultural diversity, with various performances and exhibitions organized by the Sabah Cultural Board.
A significant event during the celebration will be the ceremony to confer State honors and medals, where distinguished individuals will be recognized for their contributions to the state.
Meanwhile, a special tea reception for children with special needs and orphans, organized by the Sabah Welfare Department, will offer a warm and meaningful gesture of inclusivity.
The culmination of the celebration on June 21 will feature four major events: the grand parade, the awards ceremony for the parade competition, the conferment of state honors and the State banquet.
As in previous years, the event’s organization will be overseen by multiple committees to ensure smooth execution. The main organizing committee, chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, will coordinate the overall celebration, while the technical committee, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, will handle logistics.
Various sub-committees have also been established to oversee specific events and programmes.
