SWWICE 2025 Positions Sabah as Emerging Global Leader in Sustainable Wholistic Wellness Tourism

The Sustainable Wholistic Wellness International Conference & Expo (SWWICE 2025) concluded on a high note after 10 impactful days from 24 June to 3 July, bringing together global wellness leaders, eco-conscious entrepreneurs, and cultural advocates in Sabah. With a dynamic series of programmes encompassing conferences, exhibitions, cultural galas, and immersive nature retreats, the event firmly elevated Sabah’s standing as a vibrant, sustainable wellness tourism destination.

1. SWWICE 2025 Conference
24–26 June | Magellan Sutera Resort

Under the central theme “Sustainable Wholistic Wellness Tourism,” the three-day conference welcomed over 250 participants from 15 countries, showcasing 26 distinguished speakers across fields such as integrative medicine, sustainable architecture, energy healing, and transformational leadership.

The event was officiated by YB Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Sabah and Chairman of the Sabah Tourism Board.

Highlights included:

  • Voice for Health – community-led wellness dialogue sessions
  • Kadaiku – celebration of Sabahan cultural crafts
  • Rakta Wellness – bio-resonance and holistic therapies
  • North Borneo Herbs – promoting indigenous healing traditions

Live therapy demos focused on frequency treatments, soul alignment, breathwork, and emotional clearing, reflecting the 10 Pillars of Sustainable Wholistic Wellness.

 2. Borneo Excellence Wellness Tourism Gala Dinner
26 June | Pacific Sutera Ballroom

The prestigious Gala Dinner was graced by Mr Thonny Chee, CEO of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn Bhd, and featured vibrant cultural performances including the “1 Sabah” ethnic medley and traditional Sumazau by the Sabah Cultural Troupe.

Key moments:

  • Official launch of the Energy Medicine Practitioners Association Malaysia (EMPAM)
  • Recognition of EMPAM founding members
  • Vital Energi Seal presentation to Alexander Geissler (Germany) for BioHotel Mattlihaüs
  • Charity donation to Soroptimist International Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) in support of its Period Poverty Programme for urban women

Guests were treated to a festive lucky draw with over 20 prizes, including:

  • Antique collectibles
  • Stays at BioHotel Mattlihaüs (Germany) and Danum Valley
  • Exclusive passes to the CHG Top Wellness Global Summit (Thailand)

3. SWWICE Wellness & Smart Lifestyle Expo
27–29 June | Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC)

The Expo was officiated by Mr Amos Thien, on behalf of YB Phoong Jin Zhe, Sabah’s Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship. Drawing thousands of visitors, the Expo featured 300 fully-booked booths and energetic themed zones spanning:

  • Indoor Halls: SWWICE Wellness, Smart Lifestyle, Baby Festival & Life+
  • Outdoor Hubs: Decakila Basketball Court & 22Cycle Seaside Ride

Programme highlights:

  • Business matching with GoGlobal Solutions
  • Autism awareness by Dr. Natasha (on behalf of Prof. Dato’ Sri Mike Chan)
  • RightWill’s estate planning insights
  • Hypnotherapy demystified by MPHA
  • Nutrition talks, CPR demos, and safety workshops
  • Children’s competitions for spelling and board games

Total sales across the Expo exceeded RM3.6 million, signaling strong regional interest in wellness-driven and health-tech solutions.

Additionally, over RM300,000 worth of cash, vouchers, and products were given away as lucky draw prizes and exclusive gifts throughout the Expo, adding excitement and rewarding engagement for thousands of visitors.

4. Wholistic Wellness Immersion Tourism
1–3 July | Ranau, Kundasang & Kiulu

The final leg of SWWICE 2025 saw participants experience an immersive wellness retreat across Sabah’s scenic highlands, including:

  • Kinabalu Park, Pekan Nabalu, Poring Hot Springs
  • Kipungit Waterfall, Sabah Tea Garden, Bombon Fish Spa
  • Mari Mari Cultural Village, StoneAgeSpa, Perkasa Hotel

Immersion activities aligned with the 10 Pillars of Sustainable Wholistic Wellness and included:

  • Breathing techniques and Fragrant Qigong
  • Grounding with nature through flora, stones, and forest trails
  • Emotional release exercises and community energy activations

Sabah Sets a New Benchmark in Wellness Tourism

SWWICE 2025 has firmly positioned Sabah as a pioneer in sustainable wholistic wellness tourism, harnessing its breathtaking natural landscapes, vibrant cultural heritage, and a community of visionary wellness practitioners. The event became a powerful catalyst for cross-border collaborations, global wellness certifications, and future-focused investments that are shaping Malaysia’s rising wellness economy.

With growing international recognition, Sabah is now poised to take centre stage in redefining the global wellness narrative, anchored in sustainability, inclusivity, and cultural authenticity.
