Kota Kinabalu, 10 December 2025 — Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu officially welcomed the festive season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, celebrating this year’s theme, “Gleam of Joy.” The event
brought together hotel associates, business partners, media, influencers, and distinguished guests for an evening filled with light, music, and community spirit.
The ceremony featured traditional Christmas décor inspired by classic holiday warmth, transforming the hotel’s lobby into a cosy and nostalgic festive haven. Guests were serenaded by melodic performances from the Seventh-day Adventist Church Likas Carolers, setting an enchanting tone
for the evening.
General Manager Suresh Ramasamy officiated the celebration, delivering a warm welcome that highlighted the multicultural charm of Sabah—where Christmas stands as one of the major celebrations alongside Hari Raya and Chinese New Year. He also expressed the hotel’s commitment to bringing people together through shared traditions and meaningful acts of giving.
In honour of the season’s spirit, the hotel continued its annual Christmas Wish List Program, dedicated to supporting Bukit Harapan, a long-standing charitable home providing care for children, individuals with special needs, and vulnerable persons, allowing visitors and the local community to bring
joy to those in need during the holiday season.
The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the Christmas tree, led by the owners’ representative. Distinguished VIPs in attendance included Datuk and Datin Robert Tan and family, Mr. Julinus Julius, CEO of Sabah Tourism Board, Ms. Noredah Othman, CEO of Sabah Convention Bureau, and representatives from airline partners Jin Air, T’Way, and Air Busan.
Guests from all walks of life, both local and international continued to enjoy carols and mingling sessions as the sparkling tree cast its festive glow across the lobby—perfectly capturing the hotel’s “Gleam of Joy” spirit for 2025.
